48-Hour Film Challenge

Tuesday, July 17, 2007

Recently, I helped to create a film for the Toronto 48-Hour Film Challenge. For those of you unfamiliar with this concept, basically you pick up a “package” including some character traits, a line of dialogue, and a location at 8 pm on Friday, and you must hand in a 5-8 minute film by 8 pm Sunday which includes those elements. So you write, direct, film, edit and hand in a movie all within 48 hours.I didn’t sleep for 45 of those hours, but here is our entry.

Screenings of the top 20 films will be shown at Bloor Cinema on July 22nd at 4 pm. Tickets are 10 bucks. ydennekaynat

    Good work PA!

That must have been incredibly hard to do in only two days. That last look by Matt at the end there reminded me of Thriller.

    When’s the judging?

The judging happens on Sunday… The top 10 films get awards with things like Best Picture, Best Actor, etc… and those winners are announced the following week at the “Awards Gala”.

We did hear today that we made it into the Top 20, so our film will be shown at the screening this weekend.

Cool. I was wondering if you were going to have any hiccups with the committe give that technically no one in the film is an ‘ex-boyfriend,’ but thankfully they didn’t get picky.

Apparently no hiccups – we made it to the TOP 10! So they’ll be doling prizes out to us (hopefully) at the Gala on Friday. I want the Oscar for best person ever, but apparently they overlooked that category this year.
